2021 – Your council, who speaks for you? Representation review responses

According to the population of Hamilton which consists of different Ethnic, European, and Maori communities there is no equal representation in Council. Present Council appointed five commissioners and there was not a single ethnic person appointed, this is very unfair. But remember ethnic communities are the people who always cast their votes in the election. If Cambridge and Te Awamutu can have Community boards why can't Hamilton East and West have two boards? If we are electing two Maori Ward councilors Hamilton East and West should have only 5 councilors each so that the total will be 6 for each ward.
The Council will hear verbal submissions on Tuesday 9 October 2021. Do you want to speak about your submission at this meeting?
